Complete Your Checklist | Indiana State University

There are many items you should complete before attending your State Start-Up session to make your transition to the University as seamless as possible.

Prior to your State Start-Up date, you MUST complete the following items:

Step 1: Take Math Placement at least two weeks prior to your State Start-Up date.

Please note: This is required for all new students and will not be offered during the program. Students who have not taken their Math Placement prior to State Start-Up will be placed in the lowest math course.


Step 2: Watch the following videos in Blackboard at least three days prior to your State Start-Up date.

You will receive an email about these videos two weeks prior to your program date.

  • Welcome (from Dean Maule)
  • Academic Expectations
  • Living on Campus -or- Commuter Life
  • State Orientation: Starting the Semester Strong
  • Financial Aid (must watch prior to your State Start-Up Financial Aid appointment)
    • Part 1: Dollars and $ense
    • Part 2: Accessing your Financial Resources in your MyISU Portal
Step 3: Complete the FAFSA and Attend your Financial Aid Appointment


Attend Your Live Virtual State Start-Up Session

  • Attend your session at 11:30 am (EST) on the date you are registered
  • Check your University email for your Zoom link and other important information
  • This information will be sent no more than 3 days before your date, but only after your steps from above are completed


Before you Start Classes, complete the following:

Confirm your Housing Intention
  • Go to the 'Your Spot' badge in your MyISU portal to finish your process
    • Pick your housing community
    • Select your roommate
    • Complete Housing Exemption (if you plan to live at home)
Before you Start Classes in the fall:
Arrange Accommodations for Disabilities with Disability Student Services (if applicable)
